Blackmagic ATEM Mini Extreme

Blackmagic has expanded its ATEM range with the addition of the ATEM Mini Extreme and ATEM Mini Extreme ISO. These live switchers are designed to cater to those who need powerful and professional gear to produce the best possible live video streaming. These models are equipped with an advanced hardware streaming engine which will produce professional-quality video output which can be streamed to all major streaming platforms. What's different about these desks? These switchers are equipped with eight camera/video inputs, four chroma-keyers, six independent DVEs including PiP, two downstream keyers, up to 16-way multi-viewing, two USB ports, and multiple HDMI auxiliary outputs. These additions to the desks make them the ideal accessory for events with multi-camera events, multiple speakers and even lens themselves to large streamed conferences. Physically, these desks feature incredibly intuitive and easy-to-use buttons which make any live editing easier than ever before.

Initiative Control Interface

As with all Blackmagic ATEM desks, the front panel features an array of easy-to-use buttons for selecting video source, visual effects and your transitions. The front panel includes easy-to-use buttons for selecting sources, video effects, and transitions. The source buttons are large, allowing you to operate them by feel. Included on both the ATEM Extreme and Extreme ISO are additional buttons for audio mixing, recording controlling your stream, as well as output selection buttons that enable easy switching between video output e.g. cameras, program or multiview. The rear of the unit features a range of connections to expand your products including HDMI connections, extra microphone inputs, USB for webcam out, and an HDMI AUX output for program video.

Multiview Monitoring & Camera Control

The ATEM Extreme and Extreme ISO are designed to provide an enhanced video streaming experience, offering more control and precision than other desks on the market. These desks offer multiview monitoring of which you can configure the HDMI output to view from 4-16 views, including Program, Preview, eight HDMI inputs, SuperSource, clean feed, media player, streaming status, recording status, and audio meters.

Whilst viewing these different video sources, the desks can provide advanced control of both the 4K and 6K models of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera (when updated with the latest software and plugged in via the HDMI inputs.) This upgrade allows you to control HDMI camera settings including iris, gain, focus, detail, and zoom control on compatible lenses, resulting in much higher levels of precision. If that wasn't enough, you can even change the colour balance levels of your camera and utilise the DaVinci Resolve primary colour corrector that's built into the BMPCC 4K and 6K.

Video Editing

Professional production is at the heart of the ATEM Extreme and Extreme ISO desks. You have a range of options to enhance your live footage including a cut which will ensure an instant cut between video sources. This is complemented by functions such as intuitive duration buttons that dictate the length of video effects. Additionally, you various types of effects such as smooth transitions between sources (Mix), or DVE effects which move an image off-screen between video sources. These functions allow you to create a more professional and engaging video experience for your audience.

Expansive Audio Options

The desks are fitted with two separate 3.5mm stereo audio inputs which offer a range of audio equipment and connection options such as lapel microphones for both a host and a guest or to connect your own music player which can be used to play introduction music before your live stream starts. All audio inputs also include dedicated buttons for adjusting audio level and enabling inputs into the mixer. There's also a Fairlight audio mixer with all HDMI inputs, for which the microphone inputs are all connected which means you can live mix from all audio sources.

Mobile Data Support

It's often the case that we're found doing live productions out on location where wired ethernet connection is either unreliable or even not available at all. Should your main ethernet connection drop or fail, both the TEM Extreme and Extreme ISO support a USB-tethered connection for 4G/5G mobile data use. This is designed at a backup and the switcher will automatically switch to using the phone as the primary connection should connection drop. As an added bonus, the USB port will also power your phone whilst it's in use!
