Professional Live Production

Blackmagic Design’s ATEM Television Studio HD8 ISO is part of a new family of all-in-one live production switchers that are as powerful as they are portable. 8 standards converted 3G-SDI video inputs let you connect multiple cameras for different views of your coverage. You can utilise high-end cameras - such as the Blackmagic Studio Camera or Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2 - so you can live mix cameras with excellent low-light performance.

The ATEM Television Studio supports up to 1080p, 60fps video, and all video sources will re-sync to the settings of the switcher so every video source looks the same. This switcher has a multitude of inputs and outputs, including two dedicated aux outputs for stage monitors and master recorders, and nine 3G-SDI program outputs for sending separate program return feeds to every camera. The SDI program return feed can be used to send tally, talkback and control information.

High-Quality Effects

One of the key benefits of the ATEM Television Studio is the wide range of professional built-in video effects. As well as the t-bar fader, there are numerous buttons for automatic transitions, wipes and DVE effects for you to make your project creatively stand out at the press of a button. A built-in media pool can store 20 HD-resolution stills and 400 720p or 200 1080p frames of motion graphic and animated clips, which can be played back and mixed in with footage.

For those shooting news or high production value studio sets, 4 ATEM Advanced Chroma Keyers can be sued for green or blue screen keying effects. These chroma keyers are powerful and give you precise control for edge and flare, whilst also providing a foreground colour corrector for matching foreground and background layers. These features make sure your compositions are seamless. A SuperSource multi-layer processor allows multiple picture-in-picture displays, which is particularly useful for multiple interviews and cutaways.

Versatile Functionality

As well as being small and light enough for portable use, the ATEM Television Studio comes with versatile features to make operation effortless. This live production switcher includes a professional multiview that lets you see multiple video inputs and previews on a single monitor. Each camera view also sports tally indicators so you know which sources are on-air. You can customise the multiview layout to see up to 16 simultaneous views.

The USB connection not only supports the use of video software but also external recording. This connection can emulate a webcam, letting you plug in a computer to use any video software that works with webcams. Alternatively, you can use the USB port with USB flash disks to capture footage in high-quality H.264 format for post-production. There is also the possibility to install an M.2 drive to record directly to internal cloud storage.

Multi-Cam Editing

The ISO model of the ATEM Television Studio HD8 is a step above and offers simplified production and post-production solutions. This particular switcher can connect to remote cameras - such as the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 and Blackmagic Studio Camera 6K Pro - for wireless video coverage. The video inputs are streamed in H.264 directly to the switcher so the highest-quality footage is maintained. You’ll also still get camera control, tally and program audio.

Not stopping there, this ISO model can also record all inputs into separate video files. Each file has matching timecode and sync information, and the program video is recorded into a separate master video file to allow multi-cam editing. A DaVinci Resolve project file is also saved and linked to each input video file so you effortlessly get a full post-production workflow set up for editing, colour correction, visual effects and audio mixing.
