FAQs:
What power options are available for the Blackmagic PYXIS 12K?
The PYXIS 12K uses widely available BP-U series batteries, offering extended shoot times—up to 3 hours on a single high-capacity unit. For longer sessions or rig-mounted setups, the camera supports 12–18V DC input via a locking connector, ensuring stable power delivery. International AC adapters are included, making it easy to use the camera in global production environments without additional gear.
Is the Blackmagic PYXIS 12K suitable for low-light shooting?
Yes, PYXIS 12K performs exceptionally well in low light with an ISO range up to 25,600 and an optimised base ISO of 800. The sensor minimises noise while maintaining full dynamic range. This makes the camera well suited for documentary, event or narrative shooting in natural or uncontrolled lighting conditions.
How does the camera support live streaming?
The PYXIS 12K includes hardware-based streaming for both RTMP and SRT protocols, enabling direct broadcast to platforms like YouTube, Facebook and more without needing an external encoder. You can stream over Ethernet or by tethering a 4G/5G mobile phone via USB-C. Stream status and bitrate are viewable directly on the camera’s screen, offering confidence when broadcasting live.
How does Blackmagic RAW benefit post-production?
Blackmagic RAW preserves sensor data with metadata-based controls, allowing ISO, white balance, tint, and exposure to be adjusted after recording without image degradation. This means editors and colourists have greater creative control when fine-tuning footage. The format is also GPU-accelerated and multi-threaded, enabling smooth playback and grading in DaVinci Resolve across a wide range of hardware.
What input and output options are built into the Blackmagic PYXIS 12K?
The Blackmagic PYXIS 12K includes a wide range of inputs and outputs, including 12G-SDI out, mini XLR with phantom power, 3.5mm mic input, timecode and reference input, headphone jack, USB-C for media and mobile data, and a locking DC power input. These connections are designed to meet the needs of demanding studio and field productions without additional adapters.

Interest will be charged at a rate of 18.9% APR (representative) on outstanding balances (backdated to the first date of the loan). Novuna Personal Finance will send a reminder letter approximately one month before the six-month deferral period is due to elapse.
