What's new?
The DJI Neo 2’s 12MP 1/2-inch CMOS sensor records 4K/60fps, 4K/100fps and slow motion video with detailed, low-noise results. Its 2-axis gimbal, combined with Electronic Image Stabilisation, maintains smooth footage, even during motion or wind shifts. ActiveTrack supports eight-direction tracking for accurate subject following, while SelfieShot automatically adjusts framing for waist-up, full-body, or wide compositions. Smart shooting modes, including MasterShots, QuickShots, and Dolly Zoom, add cinematic motion to content without complex setup.
Imaging and intelligent tracking
FocusTrack combines three intelligent tracking modes (ActiveTrack, Spotlight, and Point of Interest) to keep subjects perfectly framed in any scenario. ActiveTrack automatically follows a moving subject, with a new Cycling option that maintains smoother tracking on curved paths. Spotlight keeps the camera locked on the subject while you manually control flight direction, and Point of Interest circles around a chosen target for dynamic, cinematic motion.
Flight control and handling
The DJI Neo 2 offers a complete range of control options to match different skill levels and shooting styles. Palm Takeoff & Landing enables simple hand-based operation for quick deployment without a launch surface. Gesture Control interprets hand movements for repositioning, distance, and framing adjustments in Spotlight and Follow modes. Users can also control the drone through voice commands on a smartphone, the DJI Fly app with virtual joysticks, or compatible controllers for precise input and FPV flight.
Safety and design
The omnidirectional obstacle-sensing system integrates monocular vision, LiDAR, and infrared sensors to analyse the surroundings in real time. Working alongside the full-coverage propeller guards, it provides dual-layer protection when flying close to people or objects. The 151 g frame maintains stability in winds up to 10.7 m/s, while the Versatile Flight system enhances hovering accuracy over complex surfaces such as water or snow. This combination ensures the Neo 2 remains safe, steady, and responsive in varied environments.
Know the rules!
The UK’s drone rules are based on the risk of the flight—where you fly, the proximity to other people, and the size and weight of your drone. Any drone with a camera, regardless of weight, will require an Operator ID. However, an additional Flyer ID is required for drones weighing 250g and over. Other qualifications are still needed for commercial drone use, and even then, this doesn't mean you can fly your drone anywhere. Ensure you know the rules and consult the Drone Code before you fly; if you want to fly commercially, you must take the PfCO CAA exam (Permission for Commercial Operations).

FAQs:
How does the DJI Neo 2 improve on the original DJI Neo?
The DJI Neo 2 advances on the original Neo drone with major improvements to imaging, tracking, and flight safety. It features a new 12MP 1/2-inch CMOS sensor capable of 4K/60fps and 4K/100fps video, compared to the Neo’s 4K/30fps. A 2-axis gimbal and Electronic Image Stabilisation now deliver steadier footage. ActiveTrack performance has expanded with a new Cycling mode and eight-direction tracking up to 12 m/s. Flight safety is also greatly improved through omnidirectional obstacle sensing with LiDAR and infrared protection, and the internal storage has more than doubled to 49GB. Despite these advances, the Neo 2 remains compact at 151 g and offers a longer 19-minute flight time and better wind resistance for greater stability outdoors.
How long can the DJI Neo 2 fly on a single charge?
The DJI Neo 2 provides up to 19 minutes of flight time under optimal test conditions, measured at 4 m/s in calm air. This battery length allows over 20 palm takeoff and landing sequences before recharging. Actual flight duration varies based on wind, temperature, and load, but the Intelligent Flight Battery maintains a stable voltage for reliable operation across sessions.
What resolution and frame rates does the DJI Neo 2 support?
The Neo 2 captures up to 4K/60fps and 4K/100fps video with a 12 MP 1/2-inch CMOS sensor and an f2.2 aperture. A 2.7K vertical video mode is also available for social media formats. Combined with the 2-axis gimbal and Electronic Image Stabilisation, footage remains sharp and steady with accurate colour reproduction across different lighting conditions.
How does the DJI Neo 2 detect and avoid obstacles?
The DJI Neo 2’s omnidirectional sensing system uses LiDAR, monocular vision, and infrared sensors to map the surroundings and detect potential collisions. These sensors work in real time to maintain a safe distance while tracking or returning home. Although highly effective, users should always remain attentive to the environment and fly in well-lit conditions for accurate performance.
Can the DJI Neo 2 be used without a remote controller?
Yes. The drone can be controlled entirely by hand through Palm Takeoff & Landing and Gesture Control features when in Spotlight or Follow mode. It can also be paired to a smartphone via Wi-Fi for mobile control and voice commands. This flexibility makes it practical for solo filming and quick aerial shots without extra equipment.
Is the DJI Neo 2 suitable for indoor flight?
The Neo 2 is equipped with Versatile Flight technology and a vision positioning system for accurate hovering when GNSS is unavailable. Its lightweight construction and integrated propeller guards make it safe for use in confined spaces. When flying indoors, users should ensure adequate lighting and avoid reflective or transparent surfaces that could affect the sensing system.
