The DJI Osmo 360 II is DJI’s second-generation 8K 360° action camera, pairing dual 1/1.1-inch CMOS sensors with native 8K/60fps recording and a 14.5-stop dynamic range. Its opposing fisheye lenses capture the full scene around the camera, so you can concentrate on the action as it happens. AI SuperNight 2.0 supports cleaner low-light recording, while 120MP HDR photos and 4K/240fps panoramic slow motion provide more ways to pull detail and movement from the scene. This Limitless Riding Combo adds a Heavy-Duty Clamp with a rubber spacer and hex key for securely mounting the camera to a suitable riding setup.

What’s new?

The Osmo 360 II moves beyond the original Osmo 360 in several areas that directly affect capture and handling. Panoramic recording increases from 8K/50fps to 8K/60fps, while dynamic range rises from 13.5 to 14.5 stops, helping preserve more detail in bright highlights and dark shadows. Panoramic slow motion expands from 4K/100fps to 4K/240fps, giving much slower playback of fast action while keeping the full 360° scene available for reframing. 120MP panoramic stills now also support HDR, retaining more tonal detail in high-contrast scenes.

Additionally, DJI has added Spotlight Follow, which tracks and keeps the subject centred as the camera rotates. The NFC Quick Connect feature speeds up pairing with the DJI Mimo app, so you can move into playback, transfer, or editing in fewer steps. The new replaceable lens design also means accidental lens damage no longer requires replacing the entire camera body. The mounting system has also changed to a dual-direction quick-release design, making it quicker to move the camera between compatible accessories. Together, these changes reduce the amount of setup and correction needed before, during, and in the post-production of a 360° shoot.

8K capture in every direction

Two 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensors record opposing views and combine them into a complete 360° image, so you don’t have to point the camera precisely at the subject while recording. Native 8K/60fps capture gives that full spherical image enough resolution and detail to let you choose the viewing direction afterwards and export a conventional flat frame. The new Spotlight Follow feature takes that a step further by tracking a selected subject and keeping them centred as the camera rotates. Instead of reframing the 360° footage manually afterwards, the camera can produce a flat video with the subject already held in frame, with export supported up to 4K/30fps.

The square sensor design uses more of each sensor’s imaging area for 360° capture, while 2.4μm pixels and independent exposure across the two lenses help the camera respond to different light levels on either side. That is especially useful when moving between shade and open sunlight, as each lens can meter its side of the scene separately.

Low light and high-contrast scenes

Each fisheye lens uses an f1.9 aperture, letting in more light as conditions get darker. AI SuperNight 2.0 then reduces noise in the recorded image, so night scenes keep more usable detail and smoother tones instead of breaking up into grainy footage. In bright, high-contrast conditions, the 14.5-stop dynamic range preserves more detail across highlights and shadows, which is especially useful when parts of the 360° frame are facing very different light levels. 10-bit colour and D-Log M also retain more colour and tonal information in the file, giving you more latitude when grading the footage later.

Slow motion, stills and timelapse

For fast action, the Osmo 360 II records panoramic slow motion at up to 4K/240fps. Because the camera is still capturing the full 360° view, you can slow the movement down considerably and then choose the angle you want afterwards, rather than committing to one direction while recording. For stills, it captures 120MP HDR panoramic photos, giving you a high-resolution image of the entire scene with more detail retained across bright and dark areas.

The camera also supports 16K 360° timelapse to capture gradual changes like moving clouds or shifting light, with final 16K export handled through DJI Studio software. For moving sequences, 8K Hyperlapse compresses the journey into a shorter clip with selectable speed settings.

Limitless Riding Combo mounting setup

The Limitless Riding Combo centres on the supplied Osmo Heavy-Duty Clamp, giving the camera a fixed mounting point on a suitable bar or tube rather than requiring it to be held throughout the ride. The clamp tightens around the mounting surface, while the supplied rubber spacer sits between the clamp and bar where needed to improve the fit and reduce movement. A hex key is included for tightening the mounting hardware before setting off. Once mounted, the camera can record the full 360° scene around the riding position, so you can select different viewpoints from the footage afterwards.

FAQs:

Can the Osmo 360 II record normal flat video as well as 360° footage?

Yes. In Single-Lens mode, the Osmo 360 II records conventional flat video up to 4K/60fps in 4:3 or 16:9. Single-Lens Boost Video can raise that to 4K/120fps in selected aspect ratios when you want slower playback from fast action. HorizonSteady is also available in compatible flat-video settings up to 60fps, keeping the horizon level as the camera tilts or rolls. This gives you a straightforward way to switch between immersive 360° capture and more conventional action-camera footage.

What audio options does the Osmo 360 II support?

The Osmo 360 II uses a built-in four-microphone array, including a wind-resistant mic, with wind noise reduction to keep voices and ambient sound clearer outdoors. Through DJI OsmoAudio, compatible microphones such as the DJI Mic 3 and DJI Mic Mini 2 can connect directly to the camera without a separate receiver, which is useful for recording speech alongside the action. Built-in Mic Audio Backup can also record the camera’s own ambient sound at the same time, giving you a second audio track alongside the wireless microphones.

Can I control the Osmo 360 II without reaching for the camera?

Yes. The Osmo 360 II supports Gesture Control, Voice Control and Twist Shot, which becomes particularly useful once the camera is fixed to a riding mount. Voice Control works best within around 1m in quieter surroundings, while Gesture Control is intended for use within around 2m. These controls let you start or manage shooting without reaching for the touchscreen when the camera is mounted away from you.

What is the Pre-Rec feature on the Osmo 360 II?

The Pre-Rec feature continuously buffers footage before you press the record button, so the camera can save the moments leading up to the start of a clip. You can set the buffer to 5, 10, 15 or 30 seconds, or extend it to 1, 2 or 5 minutes. This is especially useful for unpredictable action, where the key moment may begin before you have time to react. Instead of recording continuously, you can still recover the opening part of the sequence.

What storage options does the Osmo 360 II offer?

The Osmo 360 II includes 105GB of available internal storage. That means you can start shooting right away without inserting a memory card, which is handy if you want to get the camera running quickly. For longer sessions, you can expand that storage with a microSD card up to 1TB. The camera uses the exFAT file system for recording media.

Is the Osmo 360 II camera waterproof?

The camera has an IP68 rating and is waterproof to 10m when the battery compartment and USB-C cover are properly closed. However, DJI does not recommend using the bare camera for underwater 360° shooting because refraction through the fisheye lenses can cause distortion and stitching errors. With the separately available Osmo 360 Invisible Waterproof Case, the rated depth increases to 50m.
