The XF 23mm f2.8 R WR introduces a new ultra-compact option to Fujifilm’s XF lens lineup, designed to pair perfectly with fifth-generation X Series bodies, such as the X-E5. Weighing just 90g and measuring 23mm in length, it provides a highly portable solution for photographers seeking maximum image quality in a compact form factor. The lens delivers a 35mm full-frame equivalent field of view, making it ideal for travel, street, documentary and general-purpose photography where mobility and versatility are priority.

Optical design with aspherical elements

The lens features an 8-element, 6-group optical construction including two aspherical elements. This design minimises distortion, curvature, and edge softness while preserving sharpness across the entire frame, even when used with Fujifilm’s high-resolution 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor. The bright f2.8 maximum aperture offers depth-of-field control in low light, while the 11-blade rounded diaphragm produces naturally circular bokeh for portraits, close-ups and subject separation.

Fast autofocus with close focusing capability

A DC motor drives the autofocus system, delivering quick, accurate and near-silent focusing performance suitable for both stills and video. The full-group focusing system maintains image quality throughout the focus range, while a minimum focus distance of 0.2m allows photographers to capture close-up subjects with 0.15x magnification. This flexibility makes the lens well-suited to tabletop photography, product shots, and tight indoor spaces.

Durable construction with weather sealing

Despite its compact size, the XF 23mm f2.8 R WR features a durable metal barrel and precision-machined controls for long-term reliability. Separate aperture and manual focus rings enable more precise adjustments, supported by a sensor-driven manual focus system for accurate and controlled focusing. How does it work?
