Building on the notion that new beginnings start by moving in new directions, Fujifilm combines its latest 102MP CMOS II HS sensor with the renowned X-Processor 5 engine to take the market by storm with a camera that embodies what it means to be more than full-frame. Thanks to this masterful combination, the GFX 100 II benefits from continuous shooting up to 8.0 frames per second, freezing the height of the action in one high-resolution shot. Users can enjoy burst shooting at quick intervals completely stress-free with reinforced buffer memory and a 120fps display frame rate in Boost Mode, designed to help users seize decisive moments whilst preserving the high-definition image quality synonymous with large format sensors.

Added to the GFX 100 II’s high-speed performance is the improved pixel structure with a standard sensitivity extended to ISO 80. This technology lets photographers take 16-bit images with a wider dynamic range and lower noise. These high-quality results are maintained across the entire frame thanks to the redesigned micro-lenses for improved light coverage at the corners of the sensor. Fujifilm has also introduced the popular HEIF format to support 10-bit files and over a billion more colours.

A New Era in Autofocus

Previously unseen on large format cameras, the GFX 100 II is the first of its kind to introduce Subject Detection AF. Fujifilm built this powerful AF system using deep learning AI technology, allowing the GFX 100 II to easily identify and track human faces/eyes, animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, planes, trains, insects and drones. Once detected, subjects are automatically tracked and kept in focus, allowing photographers to concentrate on their framing and composition. And, with an evolved AF prediction algorithm, the GFX 100 II is a highly reliable camera for sports and other applications where accurate, high-speed motion tracking is required. This reliability extends to portrait work and commercials, with priority front, side, left, right and pupil eye tracking.

Express Yourself with Creative Controls

For users wanting to achieve a specific style in-camera, the GFX 100 II benefits from the latest iteration of Fujifilm’s renowned colour science - ‘REALA ACE’. As part of the 20 available film simulation modes, ‘REALA ACE’ combines faithful colour reproduction with hard tonality, making it suitable for all subjects and situations. Other film simulation modes include PROVIA/Standard, Velvia/Vivid, ASTIA/Soft, Classic Chrome, PRO Neg.Hi, PRO Neg.Std, Classic Neg., Nostalgic Neg., ETERNA/Cinema, ETERNA BLEACH BYPASS, ACROS, ACROS + Ye Filter, ACROS + R Filter, ACROS + G Filter, Black & White, Black & White + Ye Filter, Black & White + R Filter, Black & White + G Filter, and Sepia. In addition to film simulation modes, the GFX 100 II also benefits from many other creative tools. Users can add IPTC metadata to images as they capture them, which can be checked and edited in the “FUJIFILM XApp.” Fujifilm also includes Auto White Balance, White Balance Shift, Grain Effect, Colour Chrome Effect, Colour Chrome FX Blue, Smooth Skin Effect, and Clarity features to help users master their shots in-camera.

Power & Precision for Video

Fujifilm positions the GFX 100 II as a hybrid powerhouse offering incredible 4K 60P and 8K 30P 4:2:2 10-bit in-camera recording. The wide dynamic range also extends to movie mode with ISO 100 as the standard sensitivity, allowing videographers and filmmakers to capture the highest quality footage. Fujifilm has also increased the sensor readout speed to successfully suppress the rolling shutter effect for natural shots of moving subjects. In addition to the GFX large format, the GFX 100 II supports various cine recording formats, including Premista, 35mm, and anamorphic (35mm). Using a basic GF to PL adapter, cinematographers can pair their medium-format sensor with the world’s most renowned cinema optics, including Fujinon’s Premista and Cabrio Zoom lens collections.

For storytellers with wider aspirations, two high-resolution 35mm FF Anamorphic recording modes provide various de-squeeze options for controlling distortion in-camera and minimising post-production time. The GFX 100 II is also the first GFX System camera to feature F-Log2, broadening post-production flexibility. The wider dynamic range of 14+ stops breathes more life into the footage, maximising detail in shadows, highlights and midtones. But the dedication to video performance doesn’t stop there; the GFX 100 II also includes features like Waveform, Vectorscope, F-log2 D Range Priority Mode, ATOMOS AirGlue BT Wireless Timecode, Pixel Mapping, Rec Frame Indicator, IS Mode Boost, and Zebra setting, providing professionals with a whole host of creative tools at their fingertips.

Newly Developed IBIS

With upgrades to the processor, sensor and real-time data from live view, Fujifilm has fine-tuned the GFX 100 II to deliver its best image stabilisation performance to date. This newly developed mechanism enhances accuracy by using image information to detect camera shake. As a result, users can benefit from Fujifilm’s standout five-axis stabilisation up to eight stops, allowing them to shoot handheld easily, even in low-light situations. And, for the ultimate still image quality, the GFX 100 II can produce an ultra-high-resolution 400MP image with a single shutter press using the Pixel Shift Multi-Shot function. The GFX 100 II’s Pixel Shift Multi-Shot function enables 4x resolution and accurate colour reproduction using the IBIS mechanism to shift the image sensor by 0.5 pixels and shoot 16 RAW images in quick succession. Using the dedicated software “Pixel Shift Combiner”, users can combine the 16 RAW files to generate a 400MP image perfect for commercial photography or digitally archiving cultural assets.

Newly Designed Ergonomic Body

In pursuit of practicality, Fujifilm has equipped the GFX 100 II with an all-new high-magnification and high-definition 9.44-million-dot EVF. The unique 1.0x magnification lens successfully suppresses parallax and distortion to maintain stellar visibility even when an eye position is displaced. To keep pace with the action, this EVF boasts a smooth refresh frame rate of 120fps and has selectable performance modes to prioritise low light, resolution, AF and more. Adding to Fujifilm’s list of ergonomic improvements is the specialist BISHAMON-TEX leather with a traditional Japanese-inspired imprint used to maximise grip when hand-held. The top panel is also slightly slanted towards the user, and the sub-LCD monitor is larger than previous models, allowing users to review settings quickly with enhanced visibility. Fujifilm has also considered operability during the redesign, granting the GFX 100 II three Fn buttons for changes on the fly and a still/movie switch lever that maintains settings as you switch between modes.

Fujifilm has equipped the GFX 100 II with an ethernet port and HDMI Type A/USB-C terminals to expand the number of possible connections with peripheral devices and enhance user experience with custom setups. To streamline working with high-resolution files, the GFX 100 II can connect to external SSDs via the USB-C terminal and record stills and video data directly in any mode or format, including 4K 60P and 8K 30P. Alternatively, users can access the GFX 100 II dual card slots supporting CFexpress Type B and SD cards. Thanks to these cards' fast write speeds, the dual card slot can maximise the full potential of the GFX 100 II’s video performance. Or, if cloud-working is more your style, you can utilise the ‘Frame.io Camera to Cloud service’ by uploading Apple ProRes Proxy files and various other video files directly.
