Fujifilm’s XF 56mm f1.2 WR Lens is a game-changing option for portrait photographers. Premium Optical Design

This lens’ high-resolution results are thanks to Fujifilm’s premium optical design. The XF 56mm f1.2 WR is comprised of 13 elements in 8 groups, including 1 ED (extra-low dispersion) and 2 aspherical elements. The 8 elements used in this focusing group use the same high-refractive technology found in the FUJINON Cinema Lenses to minimise chromatic, spherical, and comatic aberrations in the same way. These premium features help to reduce light bleed within highlights, boosting image quality and subject detail in the process.

Circular Aperture for Beautiful Bokeh

As the first X Mount lens to feature 11 diaphragm blades, the new 56mm provides a clean, almost perfectly circular aperture, even at a smaller f4 or f5.6. This improvement makes Fujifilm’s new 56mm incomparable when used wide open as it delivers a clean edge along highlights, with minimal aberrations and distractions. This level of clarity and detail is supported by the incredibly smooth bokeh in areas with a shallow depth of field. Optimised Handling

One of the more notable features is an A Position Lock that prevents the aperture ring from moving and can also control the lens’s aperture settings using a command dial on an X Series camera body. This makes it far easier for photographers to remain in control over their depth of field.

A DC motor is also built into the XF 56mm f1.2 WR lens to drive both the focusing group of 8 elements and the aperture unit for more precise autofocusing. This complements the lens’s advanced image resolution from MOD to infinity and allows users to attain a quick and accurate focus, seizing all photo opportunities that come their way, even when working with a shallow depth of field where accurate focusing is paramount.

With 9 rubber seals protecting the XF 56mm f1.2 WR Lens from dirt, dust and moisture, users can stay in their creative zone even when it starts to drizzle. Changing seasonal temperatures are also not a cause for concern as this lens maintains full functionality in temperatures as low as -10°C. And, with a fluorine-coated front element that repels water, fingerprints and other unwanted marks, images remain pristine without any obstructions.
