Bluetooth connectivity brings further versatility, enabling wireless connections to compatible devices. Vloggers benefit from wireless external microphone attachments for improved audio in scenes or interviews. Microphones can then also make hands-free commands to your HERO12.

Effects and Pre-sets

The GoPro HERO12 Black lets you record the action at up to 8x slo-mo at resolutions up to 2.7K for playback at regular speed or in super-fluid slow motion to catch perfect details. The HERO12 also maximises HyperSmooth AutoBoost performance with more stabilisation. Combined with the Linear and Horizon Lock digital lens, your footage remains steady even if your camera rotates a full 360° during capture. No matter the fun-packed action, even the shakiest footage comes out silky smooth.

The HERO12 Black features extra-large 8:7 aspect ratio footage that gets more of the sky and horizon in each shot—giving you a vast canvas. The GoPro Quik app allows you to zoom in, crop, and edit your shots while keeping your footage's rich textures and sharpness. HyperView takes 8:7 footage and serves it as a wide-angle 16:9 shot for ultra-immersive scenery. Additionally, the camera presents creative night modes, including Star Trails, Light Painting, and Vehicle Light Trails, enabling captivating after-dark footage. The interval photo feature captures all the action by snapping at fixed intervals, whilst HindSight captures up to 30 seconds of footage before you start recording, so you’ll always get the shot.

Hardware Functions

The HERO12 also offers a multitude of mount options compatible with the new 1/4-20 mount. The super-simple system makes it supremely easy to set up shots and switch mounts on the fly. Once mounted, images can be perfectly framed using either the front or rear LCD screen. The front screen features a smooth live preview of your selfie shots with crisp detail, while the rear screen’s snappy touch controls make it easy to swap capture modes and adjust settings.

In terms of hardware, the HERO12 now also delivers a significant 2x increase in battery charge compared to previous generations with the ultra-efficient 1,720-mAh Enduro battery. You’ll get 70 minutes of continuous recording at 5.3K (the highest setting) or up to 2.5 hours at 1080p for long-lasting memories.

Creator Edition

The GoPro HERO12 Black Creator Edition includes extra accessories to take your action videography and photography to the next level. The Media Mod transforms your GoPro with a built-in directional mic for enhanced voice capture, a 3.5mm mic port and a removable wind screen for crisp audio and reduced ambient noise. The Light Mod has four levels of brightness up to 200 lumens, strobe effects, and Overdrive mode. The light mod has a rechargeable internal battery with up to 6 hours of runtime and is waterproof to the same level as the camera itself (33ft).

The Creator Edition also includes additional accessories compatible with the Enduro battery. The Volta is a handheld battery grip that doubles as a tripod with flip-out legs for hands-free shots. The grip acts as a wireless camera remote up to 30m away and holds an internal battery with a runtime of over 5 hours when recording in 4K. Retractable mounting fingers attach the BLACK12 with a 1/4-20 mount built into the grip base for further options.

GoPro Quik App and Storage

The GoPro Quik app features an array of easy-to-use tools that let you edit your footage like a pro. Switch from the ultra-immersive HyperView lens to SuperView, wide or linear, to create the exact shot you want. It also offers the option to re-ratio your footage to a 9:16 social media post or 16:9 for YouTube. You can also zoom in to create high-resolution 24.7 MP still images from your videos. Effortlessly move photos and videos from your cloud-linked camera to your phone through the Quik app's wireless upload or via a rapid USB connection. Enjoy unlimited cloud storage with automatic uploading by plugging your camera into your home Wi-Fi, or use your SD card to transfer content for cloud backup.
