Two fisheye looks from one zoom ring

The main draw of this lens is how the zoom ring changes the image's shape. At the wide end, it pulls a 180° view into a circular fisheye image, so skies, interiors and unusual foregrounds sit inside a rounded frame. As the ring turns towards 10mm, the image grows until it fills the frame, with a diagonal fisheye effect that preserves the curved geometry while using more of the sensor area. This feature gives two very different fisheye looks from the same camera position without removing the lens from the body.

Panoramas and corrected ultra-wide views

The 180° field of view captures a large portion of the scene in each frame, making the lens useful for stitched 360° panoramas and immersive interiors. Because each exposure already covers so much ground, the camera needs fewer positions to build a full view, leaving fewer joins to manage later. The same fisheye files can also be de-fished in post-production, where software pulls the curved projection into an ultra-wide rectilinear-style image. That means a single shot can provide both the rounded fisheye version and a straighter, wider view for more practical use.

Close focus with exaggerated scale

The 10cm minimum focusing distance changes how subjects sit in the frame. Move the front of the lens close to a skateboard, face, flower or architectural detail, and the near subject grows while the background stretches away behind it. At its closest distance, the lens reaches a maximum magnification of 0.27x, so small details can occupy more space in the composition while the surrounding scene remains visible. This is where the fisheye effect feels most physical: the lens is close, the foreground expands, and the environment still wraps around it.

Steady exposure and focus while zooming

The constant f2.8 aperture keeps the same maximum light transmission across the 4.5-10mm range. When you zoom during video, the exposure does not dip just because the focal length changes, which keeps the shot visually consistent. The parfocal construction keeps the focus point fixed as the zoom ring turns, so a subject that is sharp at one end of the range remains sharp as the framing changes. For low-light, night scenes, and action, f2.8 also allows more room to use a faster shutter speed or a lower ISO.

Small, fully manual handling

At 338g and 59.3mm long, the lens keeps smaller crop-format cameras from feeling front-heavy. This is especially useful when working handheld, mounting a camera on a small gimbal, or balancing a compatible drone setup, because less weight at the front makes the whole rig easier to settle. Focus, zoom, and aperture are controlled by dedicated rings on the lens, with 77° of focus throw and 42° of aperture throw for direct mechanical adjustment. Inside, the 13-element, 9-group optical design uses one high-refractive element and four ED elements, which bend light through the compact barrel while reducing colour separation across the wide fisheye view.
