Expanded Laowa 7.5mm f2 Lens for Micro Four Thirds Key Features:

Ultra-Wide-Angle

As the widest rectilinear f/2 lens on the market for Micro Four Thirds (M43) cameras, the Laowa 7.5mm f2 lens offers a 15mm equivalent focal length based on a 35mm full-frame format. Its intricate rectilinear design provides near true-to-life reproduction of straight vertical lines, as well as minimal distortion. This creates a more realistic portrayal of architecture in all of its forms, whilst the bright f/2 maximum aperture works well in dark and difficult lighting conditions.

The optical construction is built-up of two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements. As with most Laowa lenses, this helps to minimise spherical and chromatic aberrations for a sharper, clearer, and superior colour-accurate image.

Thoughtful Design

This wide-angle lens is tailor-made for Micro Four Third cameras. Laowa has taken the time to design a truly special 7.5mm rectilinear lens, adding a Frog Eye Coating to the front element to efficiently repel moisture and dust. Due to its manual focus design (via focusing ring), the 7.5mm f2 can work with subjects as close as 12cm (4.7") away.

Further to this, you have the ability to add 46mm screw-in filters (via filter thread) to minimise glare, enhance colour, and reduce light - the possibilities are endless. A petal-shaped lens hood is also included to protect the lens from accidental damage.

Multi-Use Rectilinear Lens

The key uses for this rectilinear lens include aerial/drone photography and videography, astrophotography, and landscape image capture. With an MFT mount, this Laowa 7.5mm f2 lens is compatible with DJI system drones - capturing stunning seascapes and landscapes from the air. If you are shooting a little higher in the sky, this lens offers a lightning-quick f2 maximum aperture to aid in capturing nightscapes with ease. The low optical distortion is something that other lenses in this field simply cannot compete with and the vast 110° ultra-wide angle of view is great for landscape photography.

FAQs:

Are there other models in this lens series?

This lightweight Laowa 7.5mm f2 lens comes in black as well as silver. There is also a standard version of this lens that weighs 170g, and an auto aperture version which allows the adjustment of the aperture through the camera body.

What does Micro Four Thirds mean?

Micro Four Thirds or M43, relates to the sensor's aspect ratio of 4:3, where APS-C would be 3:2. The numbers ‘4:3' relate to the printing size of 8x10, with two M43 camera examples being the Panasonic Lumix G9 and the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III.

What cameras are designated as M43?

The four key brands that manufacture MFT (or M43) mount cameras are Panasonic, Olympus, Blackmagic and DJI. The great thing about Micro Four Thirds lenses is that they are compatible across a more versatile range of camera bodies. For example, you could use the Laowa 7.5mm f2 lens on your Panasonic Lumix G9, and then switch to your DJI X5 series drone for superior aerial image capture.
