The 7.5mm translates into a 15mm focal length in 35mm full-frame format and as such, is ideal for wide-angle photography such as landscape, architectural and astrophotography. The lens structure is composed of 13 glass elements arranged in 9 groups, including two Aspherical and three ED lenses that help to reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations.

Automatic Aperture

This lens is quite unique in the fact that it has an automatic aperture. This is apparent through the integrated CPU chip and motor system, which allows you to adjust the aperture directly through a compatible camera body. One of the key advantages of this is that with no aperture ring, the lens is that little bit smaller than its predecessor (53 x 48mm compared to 50 X 55mm). When rotating the focus ring, the focus magnifier is actively triggered to ensure fast-action focusing in any and all shooting situations. The metadata is then stored on EXIF for added convenience, whilst the 5-blade aperture forms visually stunning 10-pin sun stars. As an added bonus for drone pilots and multi-platform content creators, you can even adjust the aperture when your drone is in flight.

An Intelligent Lens Structure

This lens is designed for use on a Micro Four Thirds mount and with that, it provides a full-frame equivalent focal range of 15mm. This ultra-wide focal range is achieved with an advanced optical structure that is composed of 13 glass elements, arranged into 9 groups, including two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements. These specialised lenses significantly reduce the appearance of spherical and chromatic aberrations for clearer, sharper images with more accurate colour rendition. In addition, the rectilinear design of this lens renders scenes with straighter vertical lines and minimal distortion, resulting in a more true-to-life image.

Versatile and Flexible

As with all Laowa lenses, they’re designed to be rigid and durable, and this one is no different. This ultra-wide-angle 7.5mm focal length provides a 15mm full-frame 35mm format focal length and is an excellent lens for vlogging, hand-held shooting, gimbal work, and even drone flights. However, with its advanced lens structure and being fully manual, it allows for a close minimum focus of just 12cm, making it suitable for creative close up wide-angle photography. This lens also has a wide and bright maximum f2 aperture which not only benefits working in low-light or difficult lightning conditions, but also provides creative control of depth-of-field. The front element of the lens sees a hydrophobic Frog Eye lens coating (FEC) that repels liquids, making them immediately roll off, leaving your lens free to continue capturing stunning images.
