As expected from all Leica SL lenses, this lens features the very same advanced optical structure that enables exceptional image-quality in every frame. The sensor and processor duo provides a wide 14-stop dynamic range and an impressive ISO sensitivity range from 50-50,000, with noise-interference significantly suppressed. This type of contrast-detection autofocus lends itself to both still and video modes, as well as subject tracking thanks to an accessible body-detection mode.

The SL2 adopts the very same, extremely powerful and impressive 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilisation found in the likes of high-end Panasonic mirrorless cameras. This industry-leading technology offers tack-sharp handheld precision with the use of a 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilisation compensation system. To further utilise this sensor-shift stabilisation tech, you can make use of the SL2's multi-shot mode. This mode captures and puts together eight separate images to create a single and compile eight separate exposures to create a single 187MP raw or JPEG file.

The SL2 body has been designed with you in mind. It is equipped with dual UHS-II compatible SD card slots which offer flexible storage options, allowing for large cards and for segregating file types, saving duplicates or doubling your storage space for overflow recording. The decision to use SD UHS-II cards means that they can switch between cameras e.g. for an A and a B camera setup. The body has also been upgraded with an improved weather sealing rating of IPX54, offering splash, dust and freeze resistance; with the outer-shell further constructed from a magnesium-alloy for added durability.

To view the stunning images and videos that the SL2 can capture, you need an advanced EVF and LCD screen, both for capturing and reviewing your images. The SL2 features a truly incredible EyeRes Electronic ViewFinder (EVF) with a high-resolution 5.76m-dot OLED. This offers a 0.78x configurable viewing magnification with a smooth 120 fps refresh rate, 0.005 sec lag, and 10,000:1 contrast ratio.
