New Chips, New Protocol

After the release of the first edition of this adapter, Megadap listened to customer feedback and decided to work with a whole new software and mechanical engineering team. This brought a plethora of upgrades to both the hardware and software that saw protocol closer to that of the original parties (Sony and Nikon). Designed to now support all of the functions offered by the Nikon FTZ adapter, this adapter provides an impressive level of compatibility that is not found in other competing models.

Optimised Firmware and Functions

Having poured efforts into optimising firmware, Megadap has successfully expanded the range of digital functions this adaptor can achieve. All AF area modes including Pinpoint focus mode can now be used. In AF-S mode, autofocus will work on both the centre and the edge. Human face/eyes and animal face detection can also be activated in both AF-S and AF-C modes. In AF-F mode, users are able to switch the focus sensitivity and autofocus speed to suit their needs. Creative shooting modes can also be used, including interval timer shooting, time-lapse movie, and focus shift shooting.

Premium Build Quality

With improved sealing around the circuit board and more advanced plating, this second-generation adapter boasts a durable, high-quality design. It is built from premium aluminium alloy and benefits from a newly designed release button for a much quicker and smoother installation. The new bayonet connectors have also been upgraded to stainless steel to ensure a solid connection that is far more robust. Yet even with all these upgrades, this adapter measures just 2mm in thickness. This means there’s no extra bulk and branded lenses feel as intended by the original design.

Image stabilisation is supported with the Megadap Sony E to Nikon Z Autofocus Adapter. Camera IBIS is supported in AF-S/AF-C/AF-F/pinpoint/MF modes. Vibration reduction of the lens can also be used for both Lenses with OR without a VR switch.

Users can find the updated firmware on the Megadap website. Once downloaded, it’s as easy as dragging the updated firmware into the pop-up folder and the update is done.
