Hypercardioid Pattern
Featuring a hypercardioid polar pattern, this versatile microphone is manufactured to offer an extremely directional pickup, meaning it focuses on sounds or voices from a single direction. At the same time, this mic system eliminates sounds from all other directions that are not on the front side of the microphone, affording clean sound quality.
Balanced Performance
Equipped with transformer-less circuitry, this microphone is designed for balanced output for natural and transparent sound quality. Not only this but adding to its versatility is the high gain output, which helps provide very-low floor noise and absolutely no colouration to the output signal, resulting in neutral vocal and instrument sound reproduction.
Output Stage
The Neumann KM 185 features an advanced output stage technology that attenuates the mic at off-axis sections, making it an ideal choice for capturing X, Y, and ORTF stereo miking. This versatile integration to the mic also allows for capturing a wide range of percussion, electric, and acoustic instruments, including guitar, violin, piano, drum, and so much more.
Flexible Frequency
With a flexible frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, this mic is worthy of capturing sounds in diverse acoustical environments. Additionally, this microphone is capable of handling high-pressure levels for up to 142 dB, making it an ideal option for close miking of vocals as well as instruments even at peak level response (high transient).
