The Olympus E-PL3 is a high performance, easy to use compact system camera aimed at photographers wanting to develop their creative skills further, for both stills and movies. The E-PL3 continues the legacy of a retro-styled camera that can take high-quality pictures yet portable and lightweight. The E-PL3 offers professional technologies at a level suitable for enthusiast photographers, including the combination of a 12.3 megapixel MOS sensor and TruePic VI processor. The 3-inch tilt LCD screen enables maximum flexibility and visibility in both shooting and playback mode. The Olympus E-PL3's increased maximum light sensitivity of ISO 12800 enables the photographer to take great low-light photos. It also comes with a hotshoe so the included flash unit (Flash FL-LM1) can be added when additional power is needed. The built-in image stabiliser reduces blurring associated with the motion of a camera during exposure. This is also particularly convenient and beneficial when using the full HD movie functionality that comes with this new PEN generation.
