High-Resolution, Super-Telephoto Lens

This lens is capable of great things. The lens has a 150-400mm focal range which equates to 300-800mm in 35mm format. But the trick this lens has which most do not is the fact this lens is equipped with a built-in 1.25x teleconverter. Using this teleconverter boosts the range to of your lens to 187.5-500mm or 375-1000mm in full-frame format. It maintains an incredible optical performance when using the converter which means you'll be able to get the equivalent to 1000mm focal range, handheld. That's right, you have all an incredible range at your fingertips and know that it's guaranteed to perform. Of course, you can double this up using the OM SYSTEM MC-20 teleconverter which will result in a massive 2000mm maximum focal range (in 35mm full-frame format.)

It has a close focusing distance of just 1.3m across the entire zoom range and a maximum image magnification (in 35mm format) of 0.57x, increasing to 0.71x when you incorporate the built-in teleconverter. What does this mean? It means you can have the power of a super-telephoto lens that can also produce stunning tele-macro photography.

The Lens Construction

Let's take a look at the lens construction. It consists of 28 glass elements in 18 groups and the built-in teleconverter alone consists of 7 elements in 4 groups. The glass elements include a newly developed large-diameter Extra-low Dispersion Aspherical lens (EDA), 4 Super ED lenses, 2 ED lenses, 2 HR lenses and a single HD lens. The combination of these high-quality glass elements guarantees reduced flare and colour bleeding across the entire zoom range. Furthermore, it results in stunning resolution, sharpness and clarity from edge-to-edge even though it's a large-diameter lens with a fixed F4.5 aperture. Of course, OM SYSTEM has used their Z Coating Nano technology which also contributes to the overall sharpness, even in backlit environments.

Powerful Image Stabilisation

This lens is designed for hand-held shooting and more specifically for those who shoot wildlife, nature and outdoor sports photography. OM SYSTEM has used their high-precision lens thinning technology enabling them to produce a comparatively lightweight lens and therefore, giving you faster and more precise focusing across the entire zoom range. This lightweight construction also contributes to the image stabilisation. This OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm f4.5 TC1.25x IS PRO Lens features (at the time of release) the world's strongest 5-axis sync image stabilisation, and when attached to the OM SYSTEM OM-D E-M1X and at its widest angle shot, it achieves an incredible 8 EV steps of compensation. It'll even have impressive image stabilisation when using the optional OM SYSTEM MC-20 teleconverter at it's furthest possible reach!

Lightweight, Compact & Weatherproof

We've briefly discussed OM SYSTEM's precise lens thinning technology, but there's more to it than just that. OM SYSTEM built the lens barrel out of a strong but lightweight magnesium alloy and carbon fibre for the hood. The use of carbon fibre for the hood, which is lighter than the magnesium alloy barrel, is to ensure the centre of gravity of the lens does not shift towards the end of the lens when your hood is attached. The materials which they've used ultimately help to maintain a strong and precise structure whilst also being compact and lightweight.

The lens features a heat-resistant coating which differs to the standard black coating you'll see on most other lenses. This coating is designed to reflect infrared rays from the sun which keeps the internal temperature from rising, even in the hottest direct sunlight which results in a stable and reliable optical performance. As well as this, the front element of the lens has been coating in fluorine which provides a smooth, scratch-resistant surface which is not only easier to clean but of course, reduces the chances of scratching your lens.

When you pair this lens with OM SYSTEM's OM-D E-M1X camera body, you'll have impressive dust-, splash- and freeze-proofing. This, of course, means you can continue to capture stunning images even in harsh, wet, cold and dusty conditions.

The Buy Now Pay Later option comprises a 36 month loan following a six month deferral period.

During the six-month deferral period, it is possible to pay off the loan, either by way of a lump sum or in smaller amounts. If the loan is partially repaid within six months, the remaining interest will be adjusted to reflect the new balance. If the loan is fully repaid within the six-month deferral period, then no interest is payable, however, a £29 early settlement fee is payable in respect of repayments within these six months.

Following the six-month deferral period, Novuna Personal Finance will initiate a monthly direct debit payment for the remaining duration of the loan. Interest will be charged at a rate of 18.9% APR (representative) on outstanding balances (backdated to the first date of the loan). Novuna Personal Finance will send a reminder letter approximately one month before the six-month deferral period is due to elapse.
