Expanded Panasonic 9mm f1.7 LEICA DG SUMMILUX ASPH Lens Key Features:
Designed for Lumix G Series
Panasonic has expanded its line of LEICA DG lenses with a large aperture, ultra-wide fixed focal length lens. Built for the LUMIX G series based on the Micro Four Thirds Standard, this lens embodies exceptional capabilities characteristic of the stringent LEICA standards. The Panasonic 9mm f1.7 LEICA DG SUMMILUX ASPH Lens offers an exceptionally short focusing distance of 0.095m with an outstanding magnification ratio of 0.25x (35mm camera equivalent: 0.5x). This combination affords an impressive level of control over the depth of field which is further reinforced by high descriptive performance and smooth, circular bokeh.
Premium Lens Construction
To achieve such high-quality images, Panasonic has designed this lens with an advanced and intricate 12 lens element optical structure. These 12 elements are split into 9 distinct groups and include 2 aspherical lenses, 2 ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses and 1 UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens. These specialised lenses not only effectively suppress both axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration of magnification, but also correct Astigmatism to help achieve a higher resolving performance. Furthermore, the use of the UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index) lens achieves uniform image quality across the frame while contributing to the downsizing of the lens.
Along with exceptional image taking capabilities, this lens offers smooth, fast and silent autofocus performance. It features a non-linear setting where focus is shifted available amount according to the rotation speed of the focus ring. Whereas, the linear setting shifts focus with a designated amount according to the rotational quantum of the focus ring. The sensitivity of this setting can be selected from 90 to 360 degrees.
This lens also offers impressive video recording performance. An integrated mechanism effectively suppresses focus breathing that often occurs when filming using interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography. Combine this with its micro-step aperture control for smooth exposure change, and this lens will easily become a regular in your kit bag.
Compact and Lightweight
More often than not, high-quality wide-angle lenses are large and bulky. Not the Panasonic 9mm f1.7 LEICA DG SUMMILUX ASPH Lens. Specifically designed for the Lumix G Series, this lens adopts the same compact and lightweight design, which is all the more impressive considering the advanced optical structure inside the lens. In addition to the optical versatility of this lens, it has also been built to be both dust and splash-resistant; allowing it to withstand use under harsh conditions even at minus 10°C.
