The Sigma 135mm f1.4 DG Art is the world’s first 135mm autofocus lens with an f1.4 aperture, designed for full-frame mirrorless systems. Its 17-element, 13-group optical construction delivers crisp detail, while a 13-blade diaphragm produces large, natural bokeh. Dual HLA motors and a floating focus system ensure precise autofocus in a robust, dust- and splash-resistant build with an Arca-Swiss tripod socket and a declickable aperture ring for tactile adjustments.

Optical Precision
The Sigma 135mm f1.4 DG Lens’s optical design incorporates four FLD elements and two aspherical lenses to control chromatic aberration and maintain clarity, even at wide apertures. Its floating focus system delivers consistent sharpness across distances, while Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating minimises flare and ghosting, preserving contrast and colour accuracy in challenging light.
Aperture and Bokeh
At f1.4, the Sigma 135mm f1.4 DG Lens creates an immense background blur, even larger than the Sigma 105mm f1.4 Art (known as the “Bokeh Master”). Combined with the natural compression of the 135mm focal length, subjects will render with striking separation and dimensionality. A 13-blade rounded diaphragm and precise aspherical element processing ensure smooth, near-circular bokeh, even at image edges. This also prevents colour bleeding and minimises vignetting.
Autofocus Performance
A dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) system drives two separate focus groups independently, delivering both power and speed. This motor ensures fast, accurate, and quiet autofocus, capable of capturing fleeting expressions and rapid subject movement with precision.
Professional Build and Handling
The Sigma 135mm f1.4 DG Lens features dual AFL buttons and an aperture ring with both click and lock options for intuitive control. Its construction combines aluminium, magnesium alloy, and Thermally Stable Composite to deliver strength without unnecessary weight. A dust- and splash-resistant build, together with a water- and oil-repellent front coating, supports reliable outdoor use.
A removable Arca-Swiss compatible magnesium tripod socket provides stability during extended sessions. Additionally, the included CFRP (carbon-fibre-reinforced polycarbonate) lens hood features a locking mechanism, ensuring a secure attachment while remaining lightweight and robust.

FAQs:
How does the dual HLA system improve focusing performance in the Sigma 135mm f1.4 DG Lens?
Each of the two focus groups has its own HLA, with different actuators optimised for the movement range of each group. This pairing delivers the thrust required for a bright telephoto and the speed to lock reliably, which helps track subtle expressions and movement. It’s also quiet, supporting hybrid photo and video use.
How do I control the aperture ring on the Sigma 135mm f1.4 DG Lens?
You can de-click the aperture ring for smooth exposure adjustments or leave the clicks engaged for tactile third-stop increments. The Sigma Lens’s lock switch prevents accidental shifts when you want the body to control aperture or when stowing the lens. These controls sit alongside two assignable AFL buttons for on-lens access to key functions.
What material is the Sigma 135mm f1.4 DG Lens constructed with?
Aluminium and magnesium alloys combine with TSC, a thermally stable composite with expansion properties similar to those of aluminium. This mix provides rigidity, reduces weight compared to all-metal builds, and maintains stability across temperature changes for consistent performance.
Do the included accessories provide any particular features?
The LH1126-01 lens hood is made of CFRP - a carbon-fibre-reinforced polycarbonate - with a push-button lock for secure attachment and quick removal. The supplied TS-181 tripod socket is Arca-compatible and removable when you prefer handheld shooting; a protective cover is included for clean lines once detached.
