Expanded Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 Sports DG DN OS Lens Key Features:
High-Functioning Optical Performance
The Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 Sports DG DN OS can be classed as a pro-level lens that offers outstanding quality throughout the full zoom range and at all apertures. The internal optics consist of 24 elements in 15 key groups to include a range of specialised glass that provides protection from aberrations and flares. In turn, this helps in the production of a clear, crisp, and colour-accurate final image. The 9-bladed diaphragm also forms aesthetically pleasing compressions and bokeh, which can only be achieved with a long focal length. Key improvements have also been implemented to tackle high-key lighting to guarantee sharp, high-contrast images.
Lightning-Quick and Accurate AF System
Tailored to the capture of fast-moving subjects, the Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 Sports DG DN OS Lens has an integrated AF actuator controlled via a stepping motor. This essentially combines fast and quiet autofocus with pin-point tracking of subjects in movement. Another impressive feature is the high-precision magnetic sensor that guarantees accurate AF positioning; not too common within ultra-telephoto lenses. Further to this, you are granted key access to a Focus Limiter switch, which offers three-zone AF modification. This aids AF performance alongside three AFL buttons that can be assigned various functions depending on the model of camera used. Again, this promotes more flexibility to suit varying shooting styles and conditions.
Smart OS Modes
The user can enjoy a high level of precision thanks to the Acceleration Sensor that is incorporated into the Optical Stabiliser Function (OS). There are two OS modes available. These include Mode 1 and Mode 2. The first one is for general photography and the latter for motorsports along with other photographic applications that require panning. The combination of the Intelligent OS and the Accelerated Sensor is particularly helpful for Mode 2 as it provides successful stabilisation while the camera moves horizontally, vertically, or diagonally regardless of the position of the lens. This helps with panning and subject tracking. Please note that Effect Mode 2 is limited to panning shooting in a horizontal direction.
Enhanced Build Quality
Cementing its place within the renowned Sigma Sports line, this 150-600mm f5-6.3 Sports lens puts a clear emphasis on operability, functionality, and flexibility to suit various shooting environments. As an ultra-telephoto lens, users require a certain level of durability and weather-resistance. This Sigma Sports lens adheres to these requirements with a dust and splash resistant exterior, as well as a water and oil repellent optical coating. The tried-and-tested tripod socket design further enables the lens to be easily fixed to a tripod or a monopod. The user can then click the position at every 90 degrees to change the shooting position to and from horizontal or vertical.
This lens also features a Dual Action Zoom, which supports both straight and ring zoom. In short, this allows you to manipulate the angle of view effectively at speed. The Zoom Torque switch allows changes to be made to the resistance of the zoom ring and lock at the wide end; further eliminating zoom creep and ensuring improved user-functionality.
