Expanded Sigma 24mm f1.4 DG DN Art Lens Key Features:
Outstanding Optical Performance
This lens’ outstanding optical performance is powered by its premium construction featuring 17 elements in 14 groups. This includes 2 ultra-low dispersion (FLD), 1 special low-dispersion (SLD), and 4 aspherical elements designed to successfully suppress a range of optical aberrations, including sagittal coma flare which cannot be corrected in post. Thanks to this arrangement, this lens has the ability to accurately reproduce bright points of light even in the extreme periphery of the frame.
Reinforcing this advanced level of correction are the Super Multi and Nano Porous Coatings, which not only minimise ghosting and flare but also ensure punchy, high-contrast results in backlit conditions. Combined with the incredibly wide, bright and fast f1.4 aperture, this lens is the perfect choice for high-demanding genres like astro, landscape and architectural photography.
Advanced Features for Maximum Versatility
The Sigma 24mm f1.4 DG DN Art Lens is all about helping users achieve professional-looking results by maximising versatility and ensuring practical solutions to common problems. Starting with attachment options, Sigma includes both a 72mm front thread and a rear filter holder on this lens. This is ideal for astrophotographers that may want to attach a light pollution filter at the front and a soft filter to the rear.
The next best feature is the manual aperture ring that has been optimised to make changing parameters more efficient. This ring is de-clickable for a smooth transition between aperture settings and is particularly useful for changing exposure seamlessly when shooting video. The aperture ring also benefits from a new Manual Focus Lock (MFL) switch that deactivates the focus ring to ensure the focus position won’t change if accidentally knocked - So for night-sky photographers, the days of using tape the hold the focus ring in position are over.
Portable and light with a Superb Build Quality
Users can expect the same level of exceptionally high production standards characteristic of Sigma with this lens. At 520g this 24mm f1.4 DG DN Art Lens is 30% lighter than Sigma’s existing 24mm f1.4, and approximately 16% shorter in length. This makes Sigma’s latest addition a remarkably portable option that is compact enough for everyday use.
Although smaller in size, this lens boasts a robust and durable housing built from a combination of aluminium and Thermally Stable Composite (TSC). And, with a dust and splash-resistant structure, a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element, and a rubber seal around the mount, the 24mm F1.4 DG DN is safe to use even during longer outdoor shoots.
