Expanded Sigma 24mm f2 DG DN I Contemporary Key Features:

Lens Construction

As a Sigma Contemporary lens, this lens is able to produce an extremely high-quality image with edge to edge sharpness, all thanks to its advanced and complex optical structure. The optical pathway is made up of 13 premium glass elements that have been arranged into 11 groups. Within this arrangement, Sigma has used two SLD glass elements and one FLD glass element that helps to reduce and correct axial chromatic aberration, an issue that often occurs with lenses with wide maximum apertures. Additionally, the lens features two high-precision glass-moulded aspherical elements that not only significantly reduce a range of unwanted aberrations but using Sigma’s advanced engineering, they’ve been able to achieve this result with only two lenses and thus, reduces the size and weight of the lens.

Auto Focus Performance

This wide-angle prime lens is suitable for a range of applications and something that helps this is its autofocusing performance. The AF system used offers quiet and impressively fast focus acquisition thanks to a powerful stepping motor, and this allows you to capture every detail within the wide 24mm scene. Of course, this can be paired with your camera’s high-speed autofocus system for exceptional performance. However, should you want, you can make use of the focus mode switch and toggle to manual focus, or make use of the DMF support.

Sigma Build-Quality

Something that Sigma never seems to fail at is creating physically pleasing and user-friendly lens designs. The Sigma 24mm f2 DG DN I Contemporary comes as part of Sigma’s exception I lens series that offers a full-metal construction. Using precision-cut aluminium, the lens barrel has a sleek, stylish and premium feel that is often seen on high-end pro-lenses. Adding to the innate quality of these lenses, Sigma has use metal components inside the lens, too. This results in added robustness and overall durability of the lens, as well as added that essential tactile quality that makes using Sigma lenses enjoyable to use.
