The Sigma 28-45mm T2 FF AF Cine Lens is the first zoom in the AF Cine Line to feature an integrated autofocus system for full-frame cinema cameras. Built on the optical foundation of the 28-45mm f1.8 DG DN Art, it brings the same level of image quality into dedicated cine housing. A physical switch allows crews to move instantly between autofocus and manual operation, supporting both rapid subject acquisition and traditional focus pulling.

Optical performance based on the 28-45mm f1.8 DG DN Art

The optical system, adapted directly from the 28-45mm f1.8 DG DN Art, maintains high resolution and image uniformity across the entire 28-45mm zoom range. A constant T2 aperture ensures exposure and depth of field remain unchanged during zooming, while the 11-blade rounded diaphragm produces smooth, natural bokeh. Flare and ghosting are effectively suppressed, and the 30cm minimum focusing distance enables tight close-ups and detailed shots within confined spaces.

High-response Linear Actuator autofocus system

The integrated High-response Linear Actuator (HLA) delivers rapid, accurate and near-silent focusing. This motor is specifically designed for cinematic use, providing reliable tracking of moving subjects and smooth transitions during focus shifts. Its responsiveness is particularly valuable in gimbal, Steadicam and handheld applications where consistent focus control is critical.

Mechanical design for professional integration

The lens features a cinema-focused housing designed for accuracy and durability in production environments. A limited-rotation focus ring enables controlled, repeatable pulls, while all three rings use industry-standard 0.8M pitch gears for direct pairing with follow-focus systems and remote units. The stepless, clickless aperture ring enables smooth iris adjustments during takes without introducing mechanical noise, ensuring exposure changes remain undetectable on screen.

Front diameter and support for accessories

A 95mm front diameter provides a secure interface for standard matte boxes, while the 82mm front filter thread accepts screw-in ND and polarising filters for smaller rigs.
