Sigma’s 28-70mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens provides uncompromised optical performance, combined with complete flexibility and portability. This lens is lightweight, compact and its versatile focal range and constant f2.8 aperture make it an ideal all-day use lens. Despite having fewer glass elements, the lens still sees a complex and advanced lens structure that provides the same professional optical performance as this lens’s counterpart, the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN Art lens. And, it’s that slightly narrower focal range is that allowed Sigma to make this lens 359g lighter, too! This lens is also equipped with various coatings that will further help produce pin-sharp images from edge-to-edge.

Expanded Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens Key Features:
The Sigma 28-70mm is similar to that of Sigma’s 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN Art lens, but being that slightly less wide-angle allowed for a significant reduction size and weight of the lens and yet, it still features an advanced and complex lens structure. The lens is comprised of 16 glass elements in 12 groups. This includes the use of three Aspherical, two FLD and two SLD elements. The FLD and SLD glass together offer some of the highest levels of low dispersion with extremely high light transmission, resulting in thorough axial chromatic aberration and sagittal coma aberration correction that cannot be achieved in-camera.
Additionally, the lens has an anti-ghosting design and the use of Super Multi-Layer Coatings and NanoPorous Coatings results in controlled flare and high-contrast images even in backlit conditions. And, to further the longevity of this lens, the front element is equipped with a water and oil-repellent coating, making it easier to clean.
The Overall Build
This lens provides the same high-level optical performance and precision as Sigma’s 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN Art but in a much lighter, more portal and more manageable shell. The lens is 359g lighter than its counterpart and this is mainly due to the use of a TSC Polycarbonate (TSC) in its construction. This can bring about some concerns about processing accuracy, but rest assured, there’s been no compromise with this lens build. This type of polycarbonate provides a similar level of thermal shrinkage as aluminium and this helps reduce the difference between thermal shrinkage of the lens’s metal and non-metal parts. This results in stable performance, even when transiting between extreme temperatures.
What's in the box?
- 1 x Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens
- 1 x Lens Hood LH706-0
- 1 x Front Lens Cap

What’s the minimum focusing distance for this lens?
The minimum focusing distance is just 19 cm at the wide-end with a working distance of 6.9cm.
Does the part-plastic build make this lens feel flimsy?
No, not at all. Some lenses do suffer from this feeling, but the integration of polycarbonates in this lens has been extremely careful and thorough and has resulted in a precise and high-quality finish. The polycarbonate parts also see advanced lubricant technology which gives the focus and zoom rings a professional and sturdy feel.

Can I repay early? If so how?
No repayments are scheduled in the initial six-month deferral period. However, it is possible to pay off the loan, either by way of a lump sum or in smaller amounts. If the loan is fully repaid within the six-month deferral period, then no interest is payable, but a £29.00 early-settlement will be incurred. Such repayments may be made to Barclays Partner Finance by cheque, debit card or standing order. Unfortunately it is not possible to set up a direct debit within the deferral period. Further information on how to make such repayments will be set out in the loan agreement pack provided by Barclays Partner Finance.
What happens if I don't repay within the first six months (deferral period)?
Following the six month deferral period, Barclays Partner Finance will initiate a monthly direct debit payment for the remaining duration of the loan. Interest will be charged at a rate of 19.9% APR on outstanding balances (backdated to the first date of the loan). Late payment penalties and early repayment charges will apply from this point. Barclays Partner Finance will send a reminder letter approximately one month before the six month deferral period is due to elapse. Note: If you chose to spread the cost and pay monthly, interest is charged from the start of the loan, not from the start of the repayment period.
What will I receive from the finance provider (lender)?
Barclays Partner Finance will send a loan agreement pack approximately four weeks after delivery of the goods, confirming that the account has been activated and, from this point, it is possible to make repayments against the loan. You will also receive reminder letters and text at the end of the deferral period to remind you when your first payment is due.
