This camera body builds on the huge success of the A7 III, a camera for all whether you are an amateur or seasoned professional. This model features an expansive redesign including a powerful 33-megapixel full-frame Exmor R back-illuminated sensor that’s paired with an updated Bionz XR image processing engine. Together, this pair of industry-leading components can capture truly exceptional image quality as well as offer complete shooting versatility and flexibility, allowing you to produce outstanding images even in low-light conditions. Sony has optimised its Real-time Tracking and Eye AF technology (human/animal/bird) for even faster, more accurate autofocus tracking and performance for both its photography and video capabilities. This is even effective whilst using the A7 IV’s super-fast 10 frames per second shooting with fast buffer clearance, allowing you to shoot with confidence.

When shooting in its 35mm full-frame standard mode, this Fast Hybrid AF (phase-detection AF / contrast-detection AF) provides 759 Phase Detection points. This covers a large area of the sensor and as a result, allows you to make conscious decisions about where the focus in your image should be. Equally, with the intelligent tracking technology, you’ll be able to maintain focus even if your subject moves to the sides of the frame. This AI-based subject recognition technology has been augmented with an advanced algorithm that will lock on to not only humans and animals, but birds too. Your subject’s eyes will be detected with a simple half shutter press and will be continuously tracked using the A7 IV’s AF-C mode. You can even choose Left Eye, Right Eye, or Auto-detection in advance, allowing you to focus on your scene composition. For pro-level videographers and freelance content creators, this camera can record in 4:2:2 10 bits and includes S-CINETONE/S-LOG 3 picture profiles to guarantee that cinematic aesthetic. This is backed up by the aforementioned lightning-fast real-time AF system, which can even track your subject’s eye in motion; ideal for high-end video production work. To further aid in the creation of high-quality video content, the A7 IV has a vast array of accessible video tools to include breathing compensation, a fully digital audio interface to support the addition of professional audio mic systems, and a heat dissipation structure to streamline extended recording sessions.

This camera is a true all-rounder, offering exceptional quality in both the images it takes as well as performance and usability. The Sony A7 IV features a dedicated Photo/Video/S&Q dial that allows you to seamlessly switch from photo and video and focus on your creativity. In addition, Sony has included dual card slots to increase memory capacity options. There’s a multi-card slot that can accept SD memory cards (both UHS-I/II) or CFexpress Type A cards that are ideal for large image files or long video sequences. The E-Mount

The Sony A7 IV is equipped with the hugely versatile and reliable Sony E lens mount fitting. To optimise this intelligently designed lens mount, Sony minimised its mechanical complexity by removing a mechanical aperture and focus drive. It has a reduced flange radius and shortened flange focal distance of 18mm compared to earlier Sony cameras that used 44.5mm. A caveat of this shortened flange distance is that it prohibits the use of an optical viewfinder as there isn’t space for a mirror box mechanism and as a result, all E-mount cameras use an electronic viewfinder. In addition, Sony has developed 40+ native full-frame lenses that offer a plethora of creative options, all of which provide exceptional image quality and professional-level performance.
