The Viltrox AF 35mm f1.8 II EVO is a full-frame wide-angle prime lens with an f1.8 to f16 aperture range. Its 35mm view gives a natural perspective for everyday photography, while the STM motor moves the focus group quickly and quietly for stills or video. A de-clickable aperture ring switches between stepped and stepless control, and the optical design uses ED, HRI and aspherical glass.

FAQs:
Is the Viltrox AF 35mm f1.8 II EVO suitable for full-frame cameras?
Yes. The lens is designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras, so it covers the full sensor area without forcing a crop. On a full-frame body, the 35mm focal length gives a moderately wide view that feels natural rather than exaggerated. This makes it useful for street photography, travel, environmental portraits and general everyday shooting. It can also be used on compatible APS-C bodies, where the field of view will appear tighter.
What type of photography is a 35mm f1.8 lens suitable for?
A 35mm lens provides enough width to include the surroundings while keeping subjects from feeling too distant. That makes it useful when photographing people in a room, details on a table, street scenes or travel moments where you want some context in the frame. The f1.8 aperture lets more light reach the sensor, so the camera can use lower ISO settings or faster shutter speeds in darker places. It also gives a shallower depth of field when you focus close, helping the subject separate from the background.
How does the de-clickable aperture ring work?
The aperture ring can be switched between stepped and stepless operation. In stepped mode, the ring moves through defined aperture positions, so photographers can feel each change without looking away from the camera. In stepless mode, the ring turns smoothly, which is more useful for video because exposure can be adjusted without visible jumps between aperture values. This gives one physical control that suits both stills and motion work.
Is the autofocus quiet enough for video?
The lens uses an STM stepper motor, which moves the focus group with quieter operation than many older focus drive systems. That matters when recording video because focus noise is less likely to be picked up by an on-camera microphone. The motor also supports quick focus changes, so the camera can respond when a subject moves through the frame. Actual autofocus behaviour will still depend on the camera body and focus settings being used.
How close can the Viltrox AF 35mm f1.8 II EVO focus?
The lens focuses down to 0.34m, or 13.39 inches. That distance lets you move in closer for details such as food, products, hands, textures or small objects without changing lenses. At f1.8, focusing close also increases background blur, so nearby subjects stand out more clearly. It is not a macro lens, but the close-focus distance makes it more flexible for everyday detail shots.
