Voigtlander 75mm f2.8 VM Apo-Skopar Lens for Leica M - Black
The Voigtlander 75mm f2.8 VM Apo-Skopar is a manual-focus medium-telephoto prime lens covering the full-frame 35mm format. Its apochromatic optical design keeps axial colour fringing close to zero, while the 44mm body, 43mm filter thread and 191g weight make it feel more like a standard lens. For rangefinder work, the slim barrel and shallow hood keep the 75mm frame clear.

FAQs
Is the Voigtlander 75mm f2.8 VM Apo-Skopar rangefinder coupled?
Yes. The lens includes a high-precision rangefinder interlocking mechanism for use with compatible Leica M mount rangefinder cameras. This allows the camera’s rangefinder patch to move with the focusing mechanism, supporting accurate manual focusing. It is especially useful near f2.8, where focus placement matters more with a 75mm lens than with wider focal lengths.
Will the lens block the viewfinder frameline?
The lens is designed to minimise finder obstruction. Its 54mm diameter, 44mm length and compact f2.8 form help keep the 75mm frameline visible during composition. The supplied metal hood also protrudes by only 3mm when fitted, so it adds protection without becoming visually intrusive in the rangefinder window. This feature is one of the lens's main handling strengths.
What does the apochromatic design do in real photographs?
The apochromatic design reduces axial chromatic aberration, which is the colour fringing that can appear in front of and behind the focus plane. This is useful when photographing bright edges, reflective details, fine textures or subjects against a strong backlight. The lens uses abnormal partial dispersion glass in four of its seven elements to help control this behaviour. The result should be cleaner detail and less coloured outlining in high-contrast areas.
How close can the Voigtlander 75mm f2.8 VM Apo-Skopar focus?
The minimum focusing distance is 0.7m when used with compatible rangefinder bodies, though this may vary by camera. At 75mm, that distance is useful for tighter portraits, small details and compressed framing without stepping too far back. The manual focus helicoid is designed for fine adjustments, which is helpful when working close to the minimum distance. On adapted mirrorless cameras, focusing behaviour will depend on the adapter and camera setup.
Can this lens be adapted to mirrorless cameras?
Yes. The VM mount lens can be mounted on systems such as Sony E, Fujifilm X and Nikon Z using a suitable Voigtlander lens mount adapter. The lens has a full-frame image circle, so it can cover full-frame sensors when adapted to a compatible full-frame body. On APS-C cameras, the field of view will be narrower because of the crop factor. Rangefinder coupling applies only to compatible rangefinder cameras, so mirrorless users focus through the camera’s live view, EVF, or focus aids.
