What’s new?
Antigravity A1 introduces a different approach to aerial imaging by pairing a dual-lens 8K 360 camera with a compact folding drone. Rather than fixing a single forward-facing frame, the camera system records a complete sphere around the aircraft, while Insta360 stitching removes the drone from view so pilots see only the environment. FreeMotion flight control, Vision goggles with head tracking, and the Grip motion controller combine to decouple viewing direction from flight direction, allowing free exploration while maintaining a stable flight path.
Three standard flight batteries, a charging hub, a sling bag, a compact carry case and core accessories such as spare propellers, corrective-lens frames and USB-C cabling provide a complete kit for longer field sessions. The result is a system that focuses on immersive 360 capture, intuitive motion control and extended operational time.
Sensor and 360 capture
The Antigravity A1 uses a dual-lens arrangement with one ultra-wide optic above the airframe and one below, covering the whole sphere around the drone. The overlapping fields of view feed into an 8K 360 recording pipeline, where advanced stitching algorithms powered by Insta360 join the two streams into a seamless sphere. This set-up removes the drone and propellers from the final image, producing an invisible-drone effect that keeps the frame free of hardware and centred purely on the environment. In practice, pilots can review flights from any angle in post-production, extracting forward, top-down, side or rear perspectives.
Because Antigravity A1 captures the entire environment in a single pass, framing decisions move from the flight phase to the edit. Rather than aligning the drone's nose precisely during a fly-through, pilots can focus on safe flying and smooth paths, then reframe in 8K later for different outputs, such as 16:9 widescreen or 9:16 vertical clips. The “fly first, frame later” process reduces the risk of missed moments and avoids additional flights and battery cycles just to refine composition.
Immersive flight, Vision goggles and Grip controller
The flight platform is built around Antigravity’s FreeMotion system, combining the Grip motion controller with the Vision goggles. The Grip translates physical arm movement into drone motion, so pointing it in a direction and pulling the trigger sends the aircraft along that vector, rather than relying on dual-stick coordination. This reduces the learning curve for new pilots and keeps directional control intuitive when attention is focused on the live view.
The Vision Goggles receive the drone's 360° live feed and render it on dual 1” micro-OLED panels, each at 2560×2560 resolution with a 90° field of view. Head tracking links the viewing angle to the pilot’s head movement, so they can look freely around the 360 sphere while the drone continues on its chosen path. The optical system uses pancake optics with TÜV Rheinland-certified low blue-light output and built-in dioptre adjustment from approximately +2.0D to -5.0D, helping a wide range of users achieve clear focus without additional glasses.
Flight, weight and batteries
Folding arms and a compact body make the aircraft easy to pack into the supplied carry case and sling bag, while its sub-250 g weight means it falls below registration thresholds in many regions. The airframe is rated for approximately Level 5 winds and a top speed of around 16 m/s in sport mode, providing enough headroom for general outdoor flying while maintaining stable control responses.
Three standard flight batteries allow pilots to alternate packs during extended sessions or multi-flight days. The included charging hub charges all three batteries sequentially, making it easier to maintain power availability from a single USB-C PD source. This combination of low take-off weight, folding structure, triple-battery support and the supplied charging hub makes the Explorer Bundle suited to extended travel and prolonged 360 capture sessions.
Safety systems and operational support
Antigravity A1 incorporates several safety-oriented subsystems derived from its flight controller and sensing hardware. Front- and bottom-sensing hardware feed the obstacle-awareness logic, enabling the drone to monitor the path directly ahead and below, assisting with automated features such as return-to-home. When return-to-home is triggered, the aircraft calculates a path back to its recorded home point and uses its forward vision to respond to obstacles along the way.
A payload detection system monitors take-off weight and flags configurations that exceed the platform’s intended range. This feature helps to discourage unsafe loads or unauthorised modifications that would alter the drone’s handling characteristics. The automatic landing gear system extends legs when the drone powers on and retracts them after take-off, protecting the lenses during ground operations while keeping them clear of the 360 field in flight. Together, these measures support safer operation for both new and experienced pilots without interfering with the core 360 capture.
Know the rules!
The UK’s drone rules are based on the risk of the flight—where you fly, the proximity to other people, and the size and weight of your drone. Any drone with a camera, regardless of weight, will require an Operator ID. However, an additional Flyer ID is required for drones weighing 250g and over. Other qualifications are still needed for commercial drone use, and even then, this doesn't mean you can fly your drone anywhere. Ensure you know the rules and consult the Drone Code before you fly; if you want to fly commercially, you must take the PfCO CAA exam (Permission for Commercial Operations).

FAQs
Do I need to register the Antigravity A1 Explorer Bundle to fly it?
With the standard flight battery installed, the drone’s take-off weight is listed as 249g, which keeps it under common 250g registration thresholds in many regions. Local regulations still vary, so pilots must confirm the rules applicable in their country or area before flying. Even where registration is not required, you should follow local airspace rules and any operational restrictions on altitude, distance or line-of-sight. The payload detection system is designed to discourage modifications that might move the aircraft into a different regulatory category.
How do the Vision goggles and Grip controller work together?
The Explorer Bundle includes both the Vision goggles and the Grip motion controller as central parts of the system. The goggles receive a 360 live feed from the drone and use micro-OLED panels with a 90° field of view to display the environment in great detail. Head tracking lets you look around freely, while the Grip translates your arm direction and trigger input into the drone’s motion. This division of viewing and control helps new pilots understand orientation quickly and makes it easier to maintain smooth paths.
What safety features help protect the drone and its surroundings?
Antigravity A1 integrates front- and downward-sensing, a return-to-home function, and payload detection into its flight controller. Return-to-home can be initiated with a control input, prompting the drone to navigate back to its starting point while using its forward sensors to avoid obstacles. Payload detection checks take-off weight and can restrict flight if the system detects excessive or unusual loads, supporting safer use. Automatic landing gear deployment at power-up provides additional lens protection during take-off and landing.
Can I use the Vision goggles comfortably if I have vision correction needs?
The goggles’ optical modules support a dioptre range of approximately +2.0D to -5.0D, and the bundle includes corrective-lens frames that can be fitted with appropriate lenses. This allows many users who usually wear glasses to achieve clear focus directly within the goggles. TÜV Rheinland's low-blue-light certification reduces eye strain during longer sessions. As with any headset, taking regular breaks and ensuring a comfortable strap fit will help maintain comfort.
How should I manage and charge the included batteries?
The Explorer Bundle includes three standard flight batteries and a separate battery for the goggles. All flight batteries are charged via the included charging hub using USB-C and PD-capable chargers where possible. The hub charges each battery in sequence, simplifying power management during extended sessions. Allow batteries to cool after flight before charging and avoid storing them fully depleted for long periods. Following the manufacturer's temperature guidelines will help maintain long-term performance.
