Laowa 15mm f4 Macro Lens for Sony A
The Laowa 14mm F4 is a wide-angle macro lens that offers an ultra-wide 110° field of view (on full-frame cameras), a true 1:1 magnification ratio, enhanced control of depth of field and its 14-bladed, near-circular aperture diaphragm provides super-smooth bokeh in out-of-focus areas. The super-wide perspective and minimum focus distance of just 12cm allows you to focus incredibly close to your subject. As well as this, the internal focusing further helps to not disturb your subject, even when reaching the minimum 0.5cm working distance.

Lens & Aperture Construction
To achieve the 1:1 magnification ratio, close focusing and ultra-wide 110° field of view, Laowa has designed an intricate lens structure that is comprised of 12 glass elements in 9 groups. This includes three high-refractive and one extra-low dispersion glass elements, which together dramatically reduce the appearance of chromatic aberrations as well as increase colour accuracy, sharpness and overall clarity. To complement the lens structure, this lens has a large near-circular 14-bladed aperture diaphragm. This aperture and the wide F4 to F32 range provides enhanced control of depth of field as well as super-smooth out-of-focus areas which will help separate your subject from the background.
Fully Manual Control
Manual control of your aperture and focus is a common feature of most macro lenses and this lens is no exception. This is something that can be jarring at first if this is your first experience of it. When it comes to using the lens it’s not the act of turning the aperture ring that can be an issue, but more that manual apertures will close in real-time. This means if you close the aperture to F16 or smaller, you’ll struggle to see your subject and focus. This can be overcome with various techniques including lighting your subject with external light.
