With an ultra-wide optical design, large image circle, and Zero-D distortion control, the Laowa 17mm f4 Zero-D Tilt-Shift Lens provides mechanical perspective and focus-plane control for medium-format mirrorless cameras. The ±10° tilt mechanism alters the orientation of the focus plane while the ±8mm shift maintains parallel vertical lines during architectural composition. The tilt-and-shift mechanics and 14-blade diaphragm control composition across architecture, interiors, and landscapes.

FAQs
What cameras are compatible with the Laowa 17mm f4 Zero-D Tilt-Shift?
This version of the lens is designed for medium-format mirrorless cameras. The medium-format lens comes in Fujifilm GFX and Hasselblad XCD mounts. Medium-format systems use larger sensors than full-frame cameras, which require a larger image circle to fully cover the sensor. The optical design of this lens supports those larger sensors while maintaining tilt and shift functionality. All focus, tilt, shift, and aperture adjustments are controlled manually through the lens.
Why is the shift range reduced on medium-format cameras?
Medium-format sensors are physically larger than full-frame sensors. To maintain full image coverage without vignetting, the shift movement is reduced from ±12mm to ±8mm. This ensures that the entire sensor remains within the usable image circle during movement. The lens still maintains tilt functionality and full perspective control across the frame.
Why use tilt instead of simply stopping down the aperture?
Stopping down increases the depth of field evenly across the frame. Tilting changes the orientation of the focus plane so it can align with the subject plane. This feature allows both foreground and distant elements to remain sharp without relying on extremely small apertures. The result is improved control over depth and focus placement in architectural and landscape scenes.
How is the shift function useful for architectural photography?
When photographing buildings, tilting the camera upward causes vertical lines to converge. The lens’s shift movement allows the camera to remain level as the lens moves upward within the image circle. Because the sensor remains parallel to the building, those vertical lines remain straight and parallel. This preserves natural architectural proportions directly in the image.
Can filters be used with the Laowa 17mm f4 Zero-D Tilt-Shift Lens?
Yes. The Laowa 17mm f4 Zero-D Tilt-Shift Lens includes a standard 86mm filter thread, which allows circular filters to be attached directly to the front element. Photographers can use neutral density filters to control exposure or circular polarisers to reduce reflections. Unlike many ultra-wide lenses, the front element is not bulbous, so a specialised filter holder is not required. This makes filter use simpler in landscape and architectural photography.

The Buy Now Pay Later option comprises a 36 month loan following a six month deferral period.
During the six-month deferral period, it is possible to pay off the loan, either by way of a lump sum or in smaller amounts. If the loan is partially repaid within six months, the remaining interest will be adjusted to reflect the new balance. If the loan is fully repaid within the six-month deferral period, then no interest is payable, however, a £29 early settlement fee is payable in respect of repayments within these six months.
Following the six-month deferral period, Novuna Personal Finance will initiate a monthly direct debit payment for the remaining duration of the loan. Interest will be charged at a rate of 18.9% APR (representative) on outstanding balances (backdated to the first date of the loan). Novuna Personal Finance will send a reminder letter approximately one month before the six-month deferral period is due to elapse.
