Integrated video switching

The Rodecaster Video Core includes a compact multi-camera switching system designed for studio-based production. It accepts up to 4 video inputs simultaneously, including 3 HDMI sources and 1 USB video device. Creators can switch between cameras, media and layouts while previewing scenes in advance, with transitions such as fades, dips and SMPTE wipes helping productions move cleanly between shots. Five fully customisable scenes allow layouts that combine multiple cameras, graphics and media.

Studio-grade audio mixing

The console includes a fully integrated digital mixer that supports up to 9 stereo channels simultaneously. Two Neutrik combo inputs connect XLR microphones, instruments or line sources, powered by Rode’s Revolution Preamps with up to 76dB of clean gain and extremely low noise. The mixer can route audio from cameras, USB devices, network sources and media players, giving producers full control over how sound feeds into the live mix, recordings and monitoring outputs.

APHEX processing for broadcast sound

Each channel can be shaped using the APHEX audio processing suite. This includes a compressor, equaliser, noise gate, high-pass filter and de-esser, along with signature APHEX enhancements such as Aural Exciter, Big Bottom and Compellor effects. Together, they help voices sit clearly in the mix and maintain consistent levels during streaming or recording. Processing can be configured directly through the Rodecaster App, allowing precise control over each microphone or input source.

Flexible connectivity for modern productions

Three HDMI inputs with automatic frame-rate conversion simplify camera connections, ensuring different sources can be combined without manual adjustment. The configurable HDMI output can display a program, a preview or a multi-view layout that shows camera feeds, scenes and mixer status. Dual USB-C interfaces allow connection to computers, mobile devices, or compatible USB microphones, while Ethernet networking enables direct streaming and NDI camera integration, including PTZ control.

Direct streaming and ISO recording

The Rodecaster Video Core can stream directly to platforms such as YouTube Live, Twitch and Facebook Live using RTMP over Ethernet. Productions can also be recorded to external USB storage, capturing the program output as an MP4 video file with embedded stereo audio. For greater editing flexibility, isolated recordings of each video input can be saved separately, allowing producers to re-edit camera angles during post-production.
