Professional Video Capture

The URSA Mini Pro 12K is equipped with the means to capture stunning video footage with incredible immersive detail. With a new sensor that has a native resolution of 12,288 x 6480, the URSA Mini Pro 12K can produce 80MP per frame. The sensor is designed with equal representations of red, green, and blue pixels, an 800 native ISO, and 14 stops of dynamic range making it perfect for chromakeying, VFX, and IMAX imaging. Furthermore, it offers oversampling from 12K down to 8K or 4K that both improve colour and eliminate aliasing. Finally, in-sensor scaling provides 8K and 4K rates up to 110 fps without cropping or a change in the field of view.

When it comes to colour the URSA Mini Pro 12K is equipped with Generation 5 Colour Science. This is an advanced and intelligent colour system that uses a new film curve that takes advantage of URSA’s imaging sensor and results in more accurate skin tones and provides improved colours saturation across the board.

Encoding Methods

The Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K offers two different encoding methods that add to the versatility of the camera. On offer are Constant Quality and Constant Bitrate encoding. You can use constant quality Q0 or Q5 options or the new Q1 and Q3 choices to lock the quality level and enable compression levels to adapt, matching the detail levels of each scene. Or, you can opt to choose Constant Bit Rate 5:1, 8:1, and 12:1 options or the new 18:1 choice for optimal imaging with predictable and consistent file sizes.

Bandwidth Recording Options

When recording at this level of quality and file size, it’s imperative that you have multiple efficient options. With the URSA Mini Pro 12K, there are three. The first two come from the Dual built-in CFast and UHS-II SD card slots that can be used for the "Record Raw on 2 Cards" option in which you can record across two cards simultaneously at speeds up to an impressive 900 MB/s to two CFast cards, or to 500 MB/s to two UHS-II SD cards. The third option utilises the SuperSpeed USB Type-C expansion port that can be used for recording to NVMe SSD drives via a USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 2 port at rates up to 10 Gb/s.
